In 1996, TWR Group Chairman, Tom Walkinshaw, bought the Arrows F1 team that had been competing in Formula One since 1978.
The Arrows Formula One car is designed by a team of 20 design engineers, led by Technical Director Mike Coughlan. Such is the enormity of the task, the design of a new car begins in the Spring of the previous year. All design and manufacturing is done at the OrangeArrows team headquarters, Leafield Technical Centre.
The OrangeArrows team's 2002 livery was unveiled to the media in Melbourne, Australia, on the 27th February. The A23 took pride of place during a photoshoot with OrangeArrows drivers, Heinz-Harald Frentzen and Enrique Bernoldi, on the grid for the Australian Grand Prix.
Arrows is somewhat of an old F1 team. They have been F1 racing since 1978 and had competed in over 340 grand prixs since 1978. With all that experience, the team has yet to win a GP, placing a respectable second 5 times. So far the best result Arrows has achieved is 4th in the Constructor's Championship during the1988 season.
